Remembering Matthew
This site was created in memory of Matthew A. Horney. Loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Taken too soon, but always with us. To honor him, we have started a scholarship fund in his name through his alma mater, University of Illinois Chicago - Rockford Campus. One hundred percent of all donations will go to fund an annual scholarship in Matthew's name. Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in the UIC-Rockford Campus Pharmacy Program. Once funded, this page will no longer accept donations, but until then, we thank you for your time and generosity. Once funded, the scholarship will exist in perpetuity.

Dr. Matthew A. Horney graduated from UIC Rockford in 2017, receiving his doctorate in pharmacy. He loved education, learning, and helping others learn. Pursuing his degree was just the beginning. Whether he was working towards advancing his career, teaching his son how to walk, or teaching himself woodworking, Matthew truly was the definition of a lifelong learner and teacher.
In addition to being an intelligent, learned man, Matthew was an incredibly kind and understanding soul. He knew that not everyone has the same opportunities, and we are so very honored to share his legacy of generosity through this fund. Nothing can ever replace Matthew, for he was his own bit of stardust. Those who knew him, miss him. Those who never met him, we wish you knew him.
